Growing
Through
By Dr.Handel Leslie
The
idea of growing through to many is as difficult as asking an individual to
change his concept of how he perceives his situation. How we view our
situations has a great toll on our responses to them. To believe that we are
stuck and there is no way out limits our capacity to exercise tenacity and
resilience. You were never intended to remain a victim of your situation. When
you see the mountain bigger than you, then your focus becomes one of
impossibility.
But there are no impossible situations, only the faith that
changes impossible situations. The current circumstance does not have to be a
permanent situation. Some say there is no way through, however, there is always
a way.If there seems to be no way, God becomes the way through. Walking by
what you see in the natural, limits your scope of succeeding. Natural
circumstances are always subject to change. Instead of constantly saying, “You
do not know what I am going through.” Why not change your perspective and
decide to go through.
The decision to go through is one of growing through. You
can never go through without the force of faith. Paul said in 2 Corinthians
5:7, “For we walk by faith and not by sight.” When you focus on the problem, it
always looks bigger than you. But when you focus becomes a faith focus,
everything will conform to God’s pattern of victory. Know that there are no unique situations, the
circumstance you face is similar to those of others.
When you say, “No one
knows what I am facing.” It is an understatement. Someone has encountered what
you are facing but they overcame. You too can and will overcome. We are assured
in 1Corinthians 10:13, “No test or temptation that comes your way is
beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is
that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your
limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.” (MSG) Why
not begin having a picture of you coming
out? Envision yourself bigger than your situation.
To believe and act as a
defeatist is to give the circumstance control. Begin to declare, “I am going
through and growing through.” Use the circumstance as an opportunity to forge
forward. Always remember, no circumstance is permanent. Every problem has a
lifespan. Champions choose to win and they win. They choose to grow through and
become better. It is never how long you have to endure.
The truth of the matter
is: The greater the pain, the greater the promotion. When the way seems dark
and discouragement creeps in, gain the courage to believe that something great
is about to emerge. Never say, “I will never get out of this situation.”
Instead declare, “Am rising out of my circumstance.” Faith will always carry
you through and you will always be victorious. Make the decision to go through
and you will grow through. You are always bigger than what you face.
